Daiane is recognized as the first Brazilian gymnast to win a gold medal at a World Championship. One of the most memorable moments of her career was winning gold on floor exercise at the 2003 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, held in Anaheim, in the United States. This victory made history for Brazilian gymnastics, and Daiane dos Santos became an iconic figure in the sport. Furthermore, Daiane participated in the Olympic Games in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008. She was also the flag bearer for Brazil at the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games. After her career as an athlete, Daiane dos Santos dedicated herself to sports-related activities, including work as a commentator and television presenter.
